Essential Oils for Sleep

I thought the best way to share some of the essential oils knowledge I’m gaining with you was to discuss the different oils that may help when you’re facing certain problems. Since starting my own doTERRA business, people most commonly ask about oils that can help support them with sleep and stress. It’s amazing how many of us are suffering from issues in one or both areas, so I thought sleep was a good place to start.

If you’d like to get a better night’s sleep, you can try using one of the following oils:

Lavender is the obvious go to oil for sleep issues, as it has been used for centuries in this way. More information on Lavender Oil can be found here.

Vetiver is a member of the grass family, is often used in perfumes and is known for its calming properties. You can find more information on this oil here.

Lavender Peace

DoTERRA’s Lavender Peace blend is my absolute favourite oil blend (and the first one I purchased!). It includes lavender of course, along with other oils like cedarwood, ylang ylang, roman chamomile and vanilla bean absolute, and it smells delicious! You can read more information on this blend here (FYI, it’s called Serenity in the USA).

Roman Chamomile

Chamomile is well known for its relaxing properties (think chamomile tea). Roman Chamomile smells gorgeous and can help support your sleep issues. More information on this oil can be found here.

The fascinating thing about essential oils is that people react to oils differently, so while some may love lavender, it may make some (particularly kids!) a little hyper! It just means you might need to play around a bit to find what works for you. For me, it’s a roller ball blend I’ve made myself of Lavender and Vetiver – I keep it in my bedside table and if I’m struggling to sleep this is a huge help! I always use Lavender Peace for my daughter though and put 1-2 drops on her Lulla Doll that she sleeps with.
